What is Animal Healing?
Reiki or hands-on healing has been used for humans for centuries and is well documented with hundreds of studies having been done into its benefits and how it can work. Sceptics may say that there is a placebo effect, but that flies right out of the window with animals. Reiki healing works very well – sometimes dramatically and there is no placebo effect with animals. They do not have a faith, are not aware that the therapist is a healer or aware of the benefits healing can give. When healing is given to them they take it readily.
How does it work?
All animals take the energy they need to heal or relax and on no account does Reiki ever cause discomfort, pain or distress. The animal is the healer and the person is just the channel for the healing energy. Reiki healing can be used alongside veterinary treatment as it is not detrimental in any way with the treatment, but can help to speed up the healing process, de-stress a sick animal and ease any pain the animal is suffering. Healing can also be used when an animal is dying as it seems to calm them and prepare them for their journey to the spirit world. The owner can benefit greatly seeing how calm and at peace their beloved pet becomes and it can ease their grief and loss.
It can help your pet on 3 levels, emotionally, mentally and physically, and to be healthy your pets, like us, need to be in balance on all of these levels. Healing can also be given as first aid too. Healing is undertaken at the animal’s home as this is where they are most relaxed and likely to be most receptive.

What conditions can it be used for?
Healing can help all conditions and any animal in need. It can also be used preventatively because the energy field will be out of balance before an illness or disease presents the symptoms.
Healing and the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966
Healing - channelling healing energy through the hands from a universal source of energy - should not be used as a substitute for veterinary care and attention. Please note that Paragraph 18 of Part 2F of the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) Guide to Professional Conduct, provides information including that all animals must be seen by a veterinary surgeon, and that the vet must be content for healing to be given by the laying on of hands.
With any concerns that you may have about an animals' health or wellbeing, your first port of call must be a veterinarian. Only a vet may make a diagnosis, or prescribe.
