Versis Pet Care Services (previously known as Serendipity Pet Care Services) is owned and run by Viv Versis and her husband Tom.
Viv has been a passionate animal lover all of her life and has cared for many different types of animals since a small child including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, tortoises, budgerigars, canaries, pigeons, fish, goats and pigs. She seems drawn to those in need and friends have often said that she has a sign over her head 'All strays welcome here' that only animals can see.
She studied for the Advanced National Certificate in Animal Care (ANCAC, now known as BTech) with Lackham Agricultural College, but unfortunately was not able to complete the final module/course due to a change in personal circumstances. However what she learned from the course stayed with her and she has continued to study at leisure about the characteristics and care of many types of animals. She has a Diploma in Basic Veterinary Homoeopathy and is also a qualified and experienced Animal Communicator (see www.serendipity4animals.com) and this enables her to work with animals on another dimension.
Viv has particular experience in caring for timid and feral cats, having taken on two rescued two sisters who were about 6 months old when she got them. She understands the necessity of allowing them to do things in their own time and not to rush them. It took years of love, patience and understanding before her own cats would allow her to pick them up or get on her lap (one of them was never a lap cat).
Before becoming a pet sitter and dog walker, all Viv's working life had been mainly in administration. She worked as a Care Co-ordinator for a care agency, as a PA in a local large acute hospital and as a Project Administrator for a management consultancy company for many years, working globally. But despite enjoying her work, she was not fulfilled and so decided to follow her heart. Her passion in life is being with animals and in nature and taking the step to become a dog walker and pet carer as well as an animal communicator was the most natural progression for her to take. Her connection with animals is deep and profound and for her, this was the only way forward.
Viv has undertaken the Foundation Course of the Amichien Bonding run by Jan Fennell, the Dog Listener, to gain more understanding of the way dogs think.
Tom, who is from the USA, works with Viv. He has also been passionate about the care of animals his whole life. He grew up with dogs and cats as part of his family unit and focussed on their care and welfare. As a young man, his dog Pepper was his best friend and they would go many places together. In his younger years Tom and a few friends rescued a horse who had been abandoned and between them cared for it until it was restored to good health; they then ensured it went on to a good loving home. He also took on cats from rescue centres and gave them a good and happy life. Before coming to the UK, he often cared for the pets of friends while they were away from home (mainly dogs). Tom seems to be a natural magnet for animals - he has a calm and loving energy and animals are attracted to him. He has worked in various industries throughout his life but one of his main interests was in electronics and he was involved in the construction of some of the test equipment of the Hubble telescope. But he, like Viv, felt that he needed to be doing something more meaningful with his life, and something that resonated with his inner core, and so took the step to join her in the fulfilling role of working with animals.
Both Tom and Viv are very sensitive to way in which animals are treated globally and are dedicated to playing their part in providing an excellent standard of animal care, ensuring animals are treated with the love and respect they deserve.
"Our mission is to provide dedicated, safe and secure dog walking and pet care, encompassing individual services for a variety of pets. You can have peace of mind in the knowledge that we both have DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) clearance, we are fully insured and have an excellent professional work ethic. We qualified through the National Association of Registered Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers (NARPS) and although are no longer registered with them, still abide by their code of conduct. We promise to give your pets all the love and care that you would expect from dependable, professional dog walkers and pet sitters. We always strive to provide an outstanding service and have an understanding that your pet is a part of your family. We will treat them as our own - with tender, loving care - always."
